Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any feature of MY FIRE JOURNEY, you enter into a legally binding agreement with us on the basis of these Terms. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including free and premium subscribers.

If you are using the App on behalf of another individual, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that individual to these Terms. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

Description of Service

MY FIRE JOURNEY is a personal finance planning and educational tool designed to help users explore the principles of Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE). The App provides the following features:

• FIRE Number Calculator — Estimate the savings target required to achieve financial independence based on your inputs.
• Income, Expense & Portfolio Tracking — Manually log your income, expenses, savings, and portfolio values to monitor your financial position over time.
• Daily Expense Tracker — Record and categorise daily spending to help identify patterns and savings opportunities.
• FIRE Readiness Quiz — A guided questionnaire to assess your current financial position relative to FIRE principles.
• Scenario Planning — Create, compare, and evaluate multiple financial scenarios with different assumptions and timelines.
• Milestones — Set and track progress towards personalised financial goals and milestones on your FIRE journey.
• Visualisation & Projections — Charts and projections to visualise your estimated path to financial independence.

We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes to core functionality.

Financial Disclaimer

By using the App, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following:

• All calculations, projections, estimates, charts, and outputs generated by the App are for informational and educational purposes only and must not be relied upon as the basis for any financial decision.
• Past performance, historical data, and projected returns do not guarantee future results. Investment values can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you invest.
• The 4% withdrawal rule, compound growth models, and other financial methodologies used in the App are theoretical frameworks based on historical assumptions. They may not accurately predict future outcomes or apply to your individual circumstances.
• The App does not account for all variables that may affect your financial situation, including but not limited to: inflation fluctuations, tax law changes, personal health events, market volatility, currency risk, or changes in government policy.
• You should always consult with a qualified, FCA-regulated financial adviser, tax professional, and/or legal professional before making any financial, investment, or retirement planning decisions.
• We accept no responsibility or liability for any financial decisions you make, or any financial losses you incur, based on information, calculations, or projections provided by the App.
• Nothing in the App constitutes a personal recommendation, solicitation, or offer to buy or sell any financial product, security, or investment.

User Responsibilities

When using MY FIRE JOURNEY, you agree to the following obligations and responsibilities:

• Accurate Information — You are responsible for ensuring that any financial data, personal details, and other information you enter into the App is accurate, complete, and up to date. The quality of the App's outputs depends entirely on the accuracy of your inputs.
• Account Security — You must keep your login credentials confidential and secure. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at contact@myfirejourney.io if you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account.
• Personal Use Only — The App is licensed for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not use the App to provide financial services, advice, or planning tools to third parties.
• Lawful Use — You must not use the App for any purpose that is unlawful, fraudulent, or prohibited by these Terms or applicable law.
• No Reverse Engineering — You must not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the App, its source code, underlying algorithms, or any related technology.
• No Automated Access — You must not use bots, scrapers, or any automated means to access, extract data from, or interact with the App without our prior written consent.
• Respect for Others — If the App includes any community or shared features in the future, you agree to use them respectfully and not to post content that is abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.

Accuracy of Information & No Guarantees

While we take reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of the calculations, models, and information provided within the App, we make no representations, warranties, or guarantees — express or implied — regarding:

• The accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any calculation, projection, estimate, or output generated by the App.
• The suitability of any information or output for your individual financial circumstances, goals, or risk tolerance.
• The continued availability, performance, or error-free operation of the App or any of its features.
• The accuracy or availability of any third-party data, exchange rates, market data, or external information referenced or used by the App.

All financial projections are estimates based on assumptions and simplified models. Actual results will vary. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any information, calculation, or projection before relying on it for any purpose.

Account Terms

Registration

To access certain features of the App, you must create an account by providing your email address, first name, and last name. You must provide accurate and complete registration information and keep it up to date.

Authentication

The App uses email and password authentication only. We do not offer social login. Your password is securely hashed and stored by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never have access to your plaintext password.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your login information.

One Account Per User

Each user may maintain only one account. We reserve the right to merge or remove duplicate accounts.

Premium Subscription & Payments

MY FIRE JOURNEY may offer a premium subscription that unlocks additional features. If you choose to subscribe:

• Payment Processing — All payments are processed securely through Apple's App Store in-app purchase system. We never receive, store, or have access to your payment credentials. Apple handles all payment processing, billing, and receipts.
• Subscription Period — Your subscription will renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• Cancellation — You may cancel your premium subscription at any time through your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. No refunds will be issued for partial billing periods.
• Price Changes — We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide reasonable advance notice of any price increase. Continued use of the premium subscription after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
• Refunds — Refund requests are handled by Apple. You can request a refund through Apple's Report a Problem page at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Intellectual Property

All content, features, functionality, design, source code, graphics, logos, trademarks, and other intellectual property within MY FIRE JOURNEY are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by United Kingdom and international copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.

Your use of the App does not grant you any ownership, licence, or right to reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the App or its content, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.

The MY FIRE JOURNEY name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are our trademarks. You must not use them without our prior written permission.

User-Generated Content & Data

Any financial data, scenarios, milestones, quiz responses, expense entries, and other content you create within the App ("User Content") remains your property. By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the App's services to you.

We will not share, sell, or disclose your User Content to any third party except as described in our Privacy Policy or as required by law.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977:

• The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of savings, financial losses, or loss of business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.
• We shall not be liable for any financial decisions you make, or any financial losses you incur, based on information, calculations, projections, or any other output provided by the App.
• Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us for the App in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MY FIRE JOURNEY, its owners, operators, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: your use of the App; your violation of these Terms; your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or any financial decisions you make based on the App's outputs.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services to deliver its functionality:

• Supabase — Authentication, database storage, and edge functions. Hosted at supabase.com.
• Apple — In-app purchase processing, subscription management, and payment handling. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or practices of any third-party services. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify, amend, or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email to your registered email address. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.

Your continued use of the App following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of and agreement to the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App and, if applicable, delete your account.

Termination & Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

• A breach of any provision of these Terms.
• Fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful activity.
• Conduct that we reasonably believe may cause harm to other users, third parties, or the integrity of the App.
• A request by law enforcement or other government authority.

Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: the Financial Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law sections.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account from within the App or by contacting us at contact@myfirejourney.io. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under English law, including but not limited to the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you are resident in a jurisdiction within the United Kingdom other than England and Wales, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that jurisdiction.

We encourage you to contact us first at contact@myfirejourney.io to attempt to resolve any dispute informally before initiating formal legal proceedings.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it shall be severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MY FIRE JOURNEY regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, proposals, representations, and understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein.
